Android has reportedly generated revenues of $31bn (£21.7bn) and profit of $22bn for Google since its launch.
The figures were disclosed by a lawyer for Oracle during the companys lawsuit against Google, according to Bloomberg. The lawsuit claims that Google used Oracles Java software in the development of Android without paying for it.
These figures combine revenues for Google-supplied ads running on Android and from app purchases on the Play Store, and are based on Googles internal financial documents, which its unsurprisingly not too happy about Oracle sharing.
“Google does not publicly allocate revenues or profits to Android separate and apart from Google’s general business,” reads the companys request for the public transcript from the case to be redacted. “That non-public financial data is highly sensitive, and public disclosure could have significant negative effects on Google’s business.”
