Google Launches Android Market Website

Google has launched a website for its Android Market app store in an attempt to respond to criticism from developers that apps are hard to find on Android Market on phones, now that there are over 100,000 Android apps available.

The site enables users to browse six categories of games and 26 categories of apps. To download an app, sign in to your Google account, find the app you want and click on ‘Install’. I tried to download the Boris Bikes Live app to my HTV Desire, got a message saying the app would be downloaded to my phone shortly, and the next time I looked, there it was.

The site also offers social features, enabling users to share apps with friends through Twitter, and to read and post app reviews to Android Market from the site. Once signed in, you can also see all the apps you’ve ever downloaded from Android Market.
