Google has launched an app in the US that rewards Android users with Google Play credits for answering survey questions.
The Opinion Rewards app first asks basic demographic questions – including gender, age and location – before crowdsourcing opinion on its branding, peoples purchase intent and their response to different offers.
The app sends a push notification when there is a new survey available, with questions ranging from, “Which logo is best?” and “Which promotion is most compelling?” to “When do you plan on traveling next?” The idea is not unlike the offering created by question-based ad targeting startup Qriously.
The app has been developed by Google Consumer Surveys, presumably to enhance its ability to sell audiences to advertisers. Users also have to link the app with their Google Wallet account to get started, driving adoption of this service too. The credits can be used for in-app purchases as well as buying new content on the Play store, all contributing to the growth of the companys app ecosystem.
