Google Play Store Updates to v4.0.25

Google has started rolling out version 4.0.25 of its Play Store app, featuring a redesigned UI, to smartphones and tablets running Android 2.2 (Froyo) upwards.

The redesign is intended to streamline the look and navigation of the store, with a focus on bigger images and getting more apps on the homepage.

The update also changes the way content is grouped together, in a way thats intended to improve discovery.

The process of making in-app purchases has been simplified, with the payment dialogue overlaid onto the app, which remains active in the background, and then returns the user to the place they left, without the the app needing to reconstruct its state.
