Google Want UK Businesses to GetMo

Google has launched GetMo, the UK answer to its GoMo initiative in the US, which encourages businesses to move their sites onto mobile, by providing critical tools and resources. The GetMo site features recommendations for mobile optimisation, the GetMoMeter, which shows businesses how their sites perform on mobile devices, and a top ten list of best practices for mobile sites.

“As the smartphone explosion continues, more consumers are looking to engage with brands by searching for them on their mobile phone,” says Ian Carrington, Googles director of mobile advertising for Europe. “Yet the majority of businesses don’t have mobile sites, or a mobile strategy for connecting with them – businesses need to get mobile in order to provide a positive user experience for their customers.”

The companies signed up as vendor partners with GetMo are Boost, dotMobi, Imano, Incentivated, InfoGin, Lumata, Madmaker, Mediacom, Mobank, Movement, Psycle, Pure Agency, Sayu, Somo, Sponge, and Wapple.

“We are delighted to have been selected by Google for the progressive GetMo campaign. The aims of the GetMo initiative are consistent with our goals, to make high quality mobile commerce opportunities available to retailers of all sizes,” says Dominic Keen, Mobank Group chief executive. “Statistics show that over 15 per cent of all online traffic is now coming from mobile – therefore, retailers that use websites which don’t adequately support mobile transactions are losing the equivalent to one day of business per week.”
