OpenCloud, which supplies open standards-based application servers for the deployment of next-generation convergent telecommunications services, has announced the appointment of Jeff Gordon as Chairman to help drive the companys commitment to world-class delivery of robust, mature and proven infrastructure software to large telecom operators.
OpenCloud recently raised $10 million (5 million) of venture capital investment from Advent Venture Partners, Motorola and No. 8 Ventures. Gordon will build on this, and the increased demand for OpenClouds Rhino platform, to consolidate the companys position as a significant global player in the next-generation telecoms network application server marketplace.
Gordon has more than 28 years experience and an outstanding track record in holding executive leadership roles with large corporate entities in the telecoms sector. His previous experience includes a spell chairing Unisyss European Management Board, and heading up Motorolas EMEA infrastructure business, in which he led 1,400 employees, and was responsible for $1.6 billion in annual revenues. He is Chairman of Axiom Systems, which provides service delivery solutions to the telecoms industry, and also chairs Celltick and Pallasium.
We are very excited to have a industry luminary like Jeff join OpenCloud, says Stephen Newton, OpenCloud CEO. The appointment of Jeff to the Chairmans position fills a strategic leadership role in the company. Jeffs experience will be particularly valuable in helping us to drive channel partner relationships, and to effectively manage the rapid growth of the company.
