Mobile shopping tech company Grability has partnered with retailer El Corte Inglés to launch a mobile shopping platform for the companys Portuguese market, bolstering its position as one of the countrys leading digital grocery retailers.
El Corte Inglés is the biggest department store group in Europe, and ranks fourth globally. Since launching its new mobile platform in December 2014 in the Spanish retail market, the firm has seen significant customer enthusiasm for mobile retail, and a surge in revenues.
Grability aims to transform the state of eCommerce for fast moving consumer goods, which currently sees only around one to three per cent of sales made online globally, and only a fraction of those on mobile. By providing retailers with an easy-to-use, intuitive platform, Grability hopes to accelerate online sales to 10 per cent.
“Grability gives mobile consumers a shopping experience they both understand and enjoy,” said Sebastian Mejia, CEO of Grability. “With this deal, El Corte Inglés will unlock the tremendous potential of the mobile channel by giving their customers in Portugal’s grocery market the best mobile shopping experience in the world and a way of shopping that they all know how to use.”
“Grability is the easiest-to-use mobile shopping platform we’ve encountered, not just in Europe but around the world,” said Pedro Barbosa, head of digital for Portugal at El Corte Inglés. “It’s exactly the kind of innovation we love to see – one which directly serves our customers by radically improving the shopping experience. We’re very excited to expand the Grability technology into our e-commerce operations in Portugal.”
Grability also works closely with partner brands including Coca-Cola, Unilever, Heineken, Colgate-Palmolive and Pernod-Ricard to enable them to market to consumers in an efficient and non-invasive way, creating mobile product placement opportunities that resemble offline marketing initiatives.
