Growing Userbase Poynts to Great Things for Mobile Advertising

Mobile local search and advertising platform Poynt has seen its userbase grow by 116 per cent during the past year, to a total of more than 15m worldwide.

According to the company, its yet another sign of the growth potential of mobile advertising, pointing to research from Gartner which forecasts mobile ad revenue to surpass $20bn by 2015, and Culture Labels study, which found that 90 per cent of mobile searches result in an action – and even to the recent IPO (Initial Public Offering) of mobile ad network Millennial Media.

“Millennial Media’s IPO reflects the strength and vast opportunities within the mobile marketplace for advertisers to reach their consumers and generate positive return on investment,” says Poynt CEO Andrew Osis. “More than ever, consumers are adopting and using smartphones to obtain relevant information about their favorite brands and their local surroundings. The key for brand marketers and advertisers is to provide relevant, valuable messages and offers to their consumers via the mobile device that take into consideration the consumer’s location and preferences.”
