Guinness celebrates perfect pour with dancing can in new ad

Guinness has launched a new advertisement featuring a joyful dancing can that emphasises how the Guinness Nitrosurge device enables consumers to achieve the perfect pour at home.

Developed by AMV BBDO, the ad features the lively track “Guaglione” by Perez Prado, paying homage to the iconic 1994 “Dancing Man” commercial.

The 30-second main film, directed by Johnny Kelly and produced by the Bafta-winning Nexus Studios, utilises both live-action and stop-motion techniques, similar to the original ad from 1994.

The film illustrates how to activate the device by attaching it to the top of a Guinness Nitrosurge can, followed by pressing a button to pour.

AMV BBDO creatives Anzhela Hayrabedyan and Luca Grosso said: “Whether it’s a person or a can, 30 years later, the excitement and joy of watching the liquid settle into the perfect pint of Guinness still rings true. The unique charm and craft of stop-frame animation was the answer to bring this emotion to life.”

The campaign will be featured on TV and online throughout Great Britain, with social media spots in 30-second, 20-second, 15-second, and six-second formats.

Anna Macdonald, marketing director for Guinness GB, added: “We wanted to translate the excitement and desirability of the Nitrosurge device, that gives Guinness fans an enhanced pouring experience which delivers beautiful, great tasting Guinness, every time. It’s a true celebration of innovation, in a fun and engaging way.”
