Speaking at BlackBerry Live, the companys CEO Thorsten Heins unveiled the new device. “The BlackBerry Q5 gives you the best of everything with its cutting-edge BlackBerry 10 functionality and a physical QWERTY keyboard,” he said. “It is for youthful fans that are passionate, confident and bold, and it makes it easy for them to have fun, create, share and stay connected.”
The keyboard is a ‘discrete’ upgrade to the original BlackBerry design, with a 3.1” touchscreen to use alongside it. It has Instant Action shortcuts for tasks performed regularly and comes in pink and red, as well as standard BlackBerry colours.
It is not clear what the pricing will be but it is being targeted at developing markets in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, APAC and Latin America. It is expected to go on sale in July.
