Hillary Clinton Campaign Spends $35m on Digital Ads

Hillary ClintonThe pro-Hillary Clinton political action committee Priorities USA Action is reportedly spending a quarter of its $130m ad budget on digital.

Thats $35m, spent to show anti-Donald Trump attack ads in six battleground states once primary voting ends next month. Traditionally, the vast majority of election ad dollars have been spent on TV, but this suggests the balance may be starting to tip.

Facebook and Twitter are among the platforms being used for this campaign, with ads specifically targeting women, Latinos, African-Americans and millennials.

“A huge portion of the electorate that we want to target get their information more and more online,” Anne Caprara, executive director of Priorities USA, told Recode. “So it’s really important that our ad strategy reflects that shift in the way that people consume information and news.”
