Hitlantis App Helps Bands Share Their Music

A new app that allows independent music artists to share their work has launched on the Apple App Store.

Dubbed Hitlantis, the app presents a graphical sphere of circles, with each one marked with the name of an act. Users can zoom in to read the names, and play songs by tapping the bubbles.

The size of the bubble corresponds with the acts popularity in terms of their Hitlantis playcount, while varying colour represents genre.

The app also allows users to bookmark artists and recommend them to their friends via a Hitlantis profile or via their own Facebook account.

Timo Poijarvi, VP and co-founder of Hitlantis, says: “Theres an almost unquantifiable amount of amazing music out there that goes undiscovered and, therefore, unmonetized. We have made it simple for people to discover music in an intuitive, visual manner, which is how people search for everything else in daily life – by visually seeking it out.”

According to the company, Hitlantis also offers artists incentives to upload their music, such as gig opportunities or studio time.

“The initial version is targeted to music lovers who can use the app to follow and help their favorite Hitlantis bands, using the app as the best radio of independent music,” says Poijarvi. “In the future, artists will get their own version of the app that will include some powerful tools to advance their position both in the Hitlantis universe and in their career too.”
