Mobile marketing firm Upstream has appointed Chris Hobbs as vice president of sales, Europe. In this role, Hobbs will use his broad experience and knowledge of the IT and telecoms sectors to provide strategic leadership to the sales team, deepen Upstream’s existing relationships with European mobile operators, and introduce the company’s solutions.
Upstream has a successful track record of working with European mobile operators, such as Telefónica, Telecom Italia, Vodafone and T-Mobile, on mobile marketing campaigns which increase customer loyalty and generate new revenues.
Prior to joining Upstream, Hobbs held the role of VP, global accounts at Telmap International, the mobile mapping and navigation solutions provider. In this position, he was responsible for developing and implementing the company’s European sales strategy – increasing subscriber volumes and revenues by more than 130 per cent. Previously, he was VP, sales and channel marketing at Mio & Navman, and director of global corporate sales at Sony Ericsson.
“As Upstream continues to expand its operations and solutions offering across Europe, Chris’s appointment will be instrumental in allowing us to continue our aggressive growth,” says Upstream CEO, Alex Vratskides. “His impressive work in European and global markets for companies such as Telmap, Palm, Handspring and Iomega, as well as his time at Sony Ericsson, will contribute to his success in helping operators build new revenue streams in partnership with Upstream.”
