Honey, Samsung Shrunk the S3

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S3 Mini, a compact version of its flagship Android handset.

The handset, which has a 4″ screen, is 121.55mm long, 63mm wide and 9.85mm deep, and weighs 111.5g. Its powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor and, like its bigger brother, the S3 Mini runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).

The S3 Mini also boasts a variety of Samsung-specific features, including S Voice for voice commands; Smart Stay, which keeps the screen lit based on tracking users eye movements; and content sharing via S Beam.

“The S3 has been extremely well received globally since it launched earlier this year, so we are thrilled to be able to offer our customers the same revolutionary design, intuitive usability and intelligence in a mini version,” said Simon Stanford, Samsung UK & Ireland vice president, telecommunications & networks division. “We will continue to develop smartphones to cater for a variety of customer needs and this latest release demonstrates our ongoing commitment to offering our customers more choice at every price point.”
