IAB Reveals Top Cities for Mobile Shopping in US

Houston is the most mobile shopping-savvy city in the US, according to a report by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB). New York and Atlanta take second and third place. Perhaps surprisingly, given its reputation as the mobile technology Mecca, San Francisco placed just outside of the top 10.

The list was based on BIGinsight’s biannual Simultaneous Media Survey of over 20,000 consumers, and examined four key data points: ownership of a mobile device (primarily smartphones or tablets); propensity to be influenced by mobile coupons; ownership of a mobile retail app on a mobile device; and ownership of a mobile social media app.

The Mobile Shopping Savvy Cities Index is part of IABs Mobile Shoppers report, which also found that mobile shoppers are younger and have higher incomes than the average mobile user, and that 10 per cent of US mobile users use their mobiles for comparing prices.
