Vodafone is holding a hackathon at its Silicon Valley-based R&D centre in June, together with AI software platform Expertmaker. Developers are invited to come to the xone incubation centre and create an intelligent app – which, following in Siris footsteps, interact with mobile users in directed, personal ways – around the theme of news overload.
“As the mobile platform continues to grow on a global scale, the ease and efficiency of how we manage our information1 and the way we consume our news will become increasingly pressing issues to resolve,” says Lars Hård, Expertmaker CTO and founder. “One tool that will help the developer community do so is Artificial Intelligence. No longer just a theory or experiment, AI is taking tangible form – in Siri, Google Glasses, and much more.”
The hackathon is taking place from Friday 8 June 8 to Monday 11 June. All participants will receive a free one-year Expertmaker license to power the app they created, and any other AI powered apps. Winners will be judged by Expertmaker, Vodafone and Verizon Wireless, with cash prizes – with a grand prize of $10,000 – awarded to the top three teams.
