Lack of NFC support on iOS devices has been one of the biggest obstacles to adoption of mobile payments systems, like Isis in the US, which depend on NFC technology.
A potential solution to this problem will be coming shortly, however, with the release of the Incipio Cashwrap, a range of cases for various iPhone models incorporating micro-NFC chips.
The Cashwraps retail packaging, which was leaked to Engadget, features instructions for using the case to make Isis payments. AT&T, one of the US operators which founded the Isis joint venture, has reportedly started stocking the product in stores, although its not yet available to buy.
The Cashwrap could go a long way to helping push adoption, but the leaked pricepoint of $70 is likely to represent a major barrier for US iPhone users.
