Indonesian newspaper Kompas Daily has become the first daily newspaper to publish on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet.
The paper, which is Indonesias largest, will publish its Editors Choice using WoodWings multi-platform Tablet Publishing Solution. The app will soon be available from the BlackBeryy App World store.
Kompas started its port to BlackBerry by bringing its weekly digital-only supplement to the PlayBook, and will soon publish daily digital updates to its Editors Choice app.
“We aim to provide the best tablet media experience for our readers, regardless of the platform they are using,” said Rikard Bagun, editor-in-chief of Kompas. “We paid close attention to how we can digitally enhance our newspaper, and brought that to the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet.”
John Fong, CEO of Serious Technology, one of WoodWing´s Gold Authorized Solution Partners in Asia, notes that WoodWing allows content creators to publish to iOS devices and the PlayBook. “One of the main differences between the two tablet platforms is the different screen ratios of the devices – 16:9 for the PlayBook versus 4:3 for the iPad,” says Fong. “With WoodWings multi-screen-enabled Tablet Publishing Solution, we can easily create the content for both platforms using a single master template to gain efficiency and achieve consistency.”
