Infographic: Instagram is the social platform with the most influence over purchases

72 per cent of Instagram users make purchase decisions based on an image of something they have seen on the app, showing the marketing power of the platform.

According to eCommerce solutions provider X-Cart, Instagram has more than double the influence of any other platform on shopping habits. 51 per cent of social media shopping decisions are influenced by Instagram, while Facebook is responsible for 23 per cent and Pinterest 22 per cent. Twitter and Snapchat only represent three and one per cent of the pie respectively.

The sway that Instagram has will see $1.1bn pumped into the platform via influencer marketing spend. This figure is set to grow to $1.6bn in 2018 and $2.3bn in 2019.

The infographic below delves deeper into these findings and takes a look at where this influencer spend goes.
