Instagram safety controls kindness stickersInstagram has rolled out new controls, and new stickers, in order make its app a safer and more positive place.

Users with public accounts are now able to choose who can comment on their posts. They can choose from to allow everyone or just groups of people, such as people they follow or their followers. Furthermore, whether public or private, users will be able to block others from commenting on their posts. On top of that Instagram has expanded its offensive comment filter from just English to Arabic, French, German, and Portuguese.

Instagram has also introduced anonymous reporting for live video, so users can point out those they believe are in need to Instagram. Once a report has been received by Instagram, the person will receive a message offering options to help – including a helpline, reaching out to a friend or other tips and support. A similar feature already exists on Instagram’s parent Facebook.

To help continuing spreading a positive message, Instagram is turning walls in cities around the globe into murals for #KindComments to make someone’s day. In addition to this, Instagram has added a kindness-themed heart-shaped stickers, so everybody can spread the love.
