Instagram is finally testing a new seek bar feature that will enable users to fast-forward and rewind through videos on the app. The test was discovered by app researcher Jane Manchun Wong, who alerted her social media followers. Wong has a history of stumbling upon hidden tests on the Facebook-owned app.
To access the feature, select users can now press down on an Instagram video and slide their fingers left or right, prompting a seek bar to appear. Instagram has gone back and forth on whether to officially release a seek bar, with the feature first appearing in 2017. The seek bar will pop up for a few days and then disappear again.

The seek bar has already been made available on IGTV, Instagram’s not-so-popular video streaming service. Since the test was discovered by Wong, many Instagram users have made it clear they want the seek bar to become permanent.
