Instagram will finally allow for a crossover between stories and the feed, enabling users to share feed posts to their story.
When a user sees a feed post that catches their eye, they tap the share button and select the ‘create a story with this post’ option. The post will then appear as a sticker over a customised background. This sticker can be rotated, scaled, and moved in any way the user pleases.
All posts shared to stories will be tagged with the original poster’s username and posts on someone’s story can be tapped to view the original post. Users have the choice of opting out from allowing others to share their posts via their settings.
“When you come across something in feed that inspires you — like a post from a friend raising money for a cause or a photo of a new design from your favourite brand — you can now quickly share that post as a sticker to your story for your friends and followers to see,” said Instagram in a blog post.
