Instagram has added new ways for users to reply to Instagram Stories in Instagram Direct with the introduction of photo and video replies.
Instagram users can now tap on the camera button while watching a story and capture a photo, video, or boomerang and use all of the app’s regular creative tools – including face filters, stickers and Rewind – in sending a visual reply to a friend. Photo and video replies appear in the Direct inbox, as with normal replies, and are highlighted in blue. They will disappear once they have been viewed, and friends will be notified if a screenshot has been taken of the reply or if a reply has been replayed.
“From selfies to Boomerangs, now you can be even more fun and playful when you respond to friends,” said Instagram in a blog post. “Today’s update is just one of the ways we’re working to make Direct the best place to have fun, visual conversations with friends on Instagram.”
The update is available now to both Android and iOS users with the Instagram version 10.28 or above.
