Facebook is reportedly testing a feature that enables Instagram users to share their Stories directly to the social network.
The test, which was first spotted by The Next Web’s Matt Navarra via Twitter user Mário Rui André, is currently being run with small number of Instagram users in at least Portugal.
“We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you,” an Instagram spokesperson told Business Insider. “We have no other plans to share at this time.”
Instagram Stories was launched in August last year to directly rival Snapchat by offering more-or-less the exact same thing. Since its launch, the feature has reached 250m daily active users (DAUs), which is considerably more than the platform which it copied. As a whole, Instagram hit 700m monthly active users back in April. At last count, at its IPO, Snap reported having 161m DAUs.
Due to the success of Stories in Instagram, Facebook followed it up by adding the feature to its main app, as well as to WhatsApp and Messenger.
