Instagram has rolled out an updated icon and app design for the main Instagram app, and a new unified set of icons for sister apps, Boomerang, Hyperlapse, and Layout. It has also refreshed the user interface with a simpler, more consistent design that it said helps peoples photos and videos shine.
The new app icon is a simplified shape, designed to represent a more versatile camera, while the rainbow lives on in gradient form. There’s also a unified logo set across the Boomerang, Hyperlapse, and Layoout apps, while Instagram says the new simpler user interface design puts more focus on users’ photos and videos, without changing how you they use the app. Icons and fonts have also been tweaked so that the experience feels “more native” on Android and iOS.
