Intel Leads $6m Funding in Mobiles Republic

Mobiles Republic has secured $6m (£3.7m) in Series B funding, led by Intel Capital, along with re-investors XAnge Private Equity and Creathor Venture.

Mobiles Republic will use the money to develop the technology behind its news aggregator apps, which include News Republic, Appy Geek and Sports Republic, with a particular focus on boosting their semantic and predictive capabilities, in order to improve user experience and increase monetisation opportunities.

“Mobiles Republic is already one of the major news aggregator apps targeted at mobile platforms. Having multilingual support and a rich semantic engine, we see this is a best in class application with great international growth possibilities,” said Marcos Battisti, managing director for Intel Capital, Western Europe and Israel. “Their real-time semantic engine allows advanced personalized filtering and context aware advertising, which provides a very powerful value proposition towards advertisers & publishers.”
