Mobile interactive solutions provider Intellistream has announced that its Unistream 3G video content and interactive media platform is now available as a single box licensed appliance, to complement its established hosted video content management and delivery platform. Intellistream says the move makes interactive 3G video services a practical proposition for security, gaming and logistics companies, as well as content owners and network operators,
With full remote monitoring and support capability, the Unistream unit, which comprises a single 1U appliance, provides a complete set of tools for managing and delivering interactive content to any mobile device that is capable of making and receiving standard 3G video calls, Intellistream says.
Unistream applications are network operator independent, written using standard XML and Java techniques, and will work on any 3G videophone, without the installation of software. This eliminates the cost burden of developing and maintaining application variants for different handsets and networks. These costs have historically been a major barrier to application deployment for many developers and content owners, the company notes.
Our customers with applications such as CCTV and mobile gambling require complete control over their applications for security and audit purposes, says Intellistream CEO, Jim Beagle. The new Unistream appliance has been developed so that we are able to meet the need for customers to own and control their hardware. To ensure that we can still deliver the same level of service and availability as our hosted Unistream service, we have equipped the Unistream appliance with a full remote monitoring and support capability to enable the Intellistream team to rapidly fix any issues.
The Unistream appliance requires only the addition of interconnects to the phone networks to begin serving both interactive video and standard IVR applications. With remote support and monitoring of the Unistream server from the Intellistream team, the company says that customers can be confident of rapid development and stable deployment of their applications.
