iOS 6.1 Opens Up LTE Compability

Apple has launched the iOS 6.1 update for iPhone, iPad and iPod devices, with expanded LTE capabilities and expanded Siri functionality.

iOS 6.1 makes iPhones compatible with LTE connections on 36 more operators around the world, and iPads with 23 more operators.

The update also brings the ability to purchase film tickets from Fandango through Siri, by asking the personal assistant app to find a film, cinema or showtime. Tickets then bought via the Fandango app can be added to Passbook.

“iOS 6 is the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, and with nearly 300m iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices on iOS 6 in just five months, it may be the most popular new version of an OS in history,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “iOS 6.1 brings LTE support to more markets around the world, so even more users can enjoy ultra-fast Safari browsing, FaceTime video calls, iCloud services, and iTunes and App Store downloads.”
