InMobi has released the European Mobile Insights report, based on data from the mobile ad network. While Android continued to hold its market lead on the platform in February, at 34 per cent, that figure has slipped by one percentage point.
iOS has been happy to pick up the slack, its total impressions growing by five share points to a 28 per cent share. Apple also held the first and third most popular devices, with the iPhone 4 and iPad respectively.
“We expect to see continued growth in iOS, driven by last week’s unveiling of the new iPad, as well as the reduced pricing of the iPad 2,” says Rob Jonas, vice president and managing director, EME, InMobi. “The iOS growth on our network, and increased adoption of tablets, overall align with the results of our recent Mobile Media Consumption Study, which revealed that European mobile consumers are already spending more time on mobile connected devices than TVs.”
The second most popular handset was RIMs BlackBerry 8520 – and its OS held third place, remaining steady with a 17 per cent market share.
InMobis network itself grew by 63 per cent – an extra 15.2bn monthly impressions – across 90 days.
