iOS Share of Mobile Web Traffic Hits All-time Low

During August, iOS saw its share of global mobile web usage fall to 54.9 per cent, according to data from NetApplications – a drop of 3.4 percentage points month-on-month, and year-on-year, and an all-time low for the OS.

Nevertheless, in spite of the higher number of Android devices in use, iOS still accounts for the majority of mobile web traffic. Android holds a 28.1 per cent share, up 2.9 per cent from last month, and 7.2 per cent from August 2012.

Other manufacturers are way behind, with feature phone OS Java ME in third place with an 8.4 per cent share, ahead of BlackBerry, at 3.3 per cent. Windows Phone – despite its share of sales apparently being on the rise in Europe – doesnt make an appearance, rolled into an other category which commands a share of just two per cent.
