iPad Traffic Speeding Ahead, says Motoring.co.uk

According to consumer car site Motoring.co.uk, iPad is the UKs most popular device for browsing the mobile web. The site saw iPad account for 39 per cent of mobile visits in April.

Overall, mobile visits have shot up by 190 per cent year on year, but its a familiar story, of Apple dominating mobile visits. iOS may have lost its lead in terms of market share, but it still accounts for 77 per cent of all mobile visitors. iPhones were the second most popular device, accounting for 36.5 per cent of visitors.

“We are continuing to see massive growth of visitors using mobile and Tablets,” says Terry Hogan, Motoring.co.uk MD. “What’s clear is that consumers love Apple products. It seems that users, a lot of whom own both iPads and Iphones, are reaching for their tablet rather than their mobile phone. Why use a tiny screen that makes browsing fiddly, when you can use a larger version, that can handle more complicated website designs easily? What this means to us is that as we are designing our new mobile site, we could start treating Tablet users as if they were on a PC, rather than as a mobile user.”

Android devices account for 17.8 per cent of visitors, with Samsung proving the most popular non-Apple manufacturer, with a 6.4 per cent device share.
