iPad Web Usage Drops 7.1 Per Cent Over Christmas

iPad traffic in the US and Canada has dropped by 7.1 per cent over the festive season, according to a study of smartphone and tablet impressions by Chikita.

The Kindle Fire HD was a Christmas best-seller for Amazon, gaining a 3.0 per cent share of tablet traffic to reach 7.5 per cent, but its still a distant second to Apple’s device, which has a 78.9 per cent share of tablet web usage.

Samsung’s Galaxy tablets, both the 7″ and 10″ versions, increased their share by 1.38 per cent to give a 4.4 per cent share. The Google Nexus 7 and 10 tablets increased by 0.9 per cent, taking a 2.0 per cent share.

The iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 increased their share of smartphone impressions by 1.1 per cent and 1 per cent respectively, which means the latest Apple smartphone now commands 8.3 per cent of impressions, while the earlier released Android handset manages 4.3 per cent.

Chikita looked at impressions from 1 to 27 December 2012 to see what devices were been most widely adopted over the Christmas period.
