iPhone Owners Biggest Wi-fi Users

iOS users are more likely to use wi-fi (at 58 per cent), than Android (35 per cent) and BlackBerry (41 per cent) – thats one of the finding of the March MobileSTAT report from mobile ad network Jumptap. The company is keen to point out that this could be due to the lack of 4G iPhones, but also that iOS represents a rich opportunity for geo-targeted campaigns, as wi-fi offers strong location data.

The report also shone a spotlight on the average player of two of mobiles biggest games – Angry Birds and Words with Friends – and showed the two be very different. Angry Birds players were twice as likely to be using a Tablet device than the average mobile user; Words with Friends users were half as likely. But, at 40 per cent, Words with Friends players were more likely to have an income over $100,000.

The MobileSTAT report is based on third-party data, analysed using proprietary algorithms, that Jumptap uses to gain insights about its network audience.
