After showing off three other handsets at the IFA tech show in Berlin, Samsung has unveiled something slightly more peculiar – the Samsung Galaxy Camera.
Its an Android-powered compact camera, with wi-fi connectivity, and – depending on your model – 3G or 4G capability. The back of the camera is a 4.8” touchscreen display, which looks remarkably like a smartphone.
The Galaxy Camera doenst look too shabby on the camera side – boasting a 16.3-megapixel sensor, a 21x optical zoom lens, and a 23mm aperture lens for wide-angle shots – but how will it fare as a phone?
Its hard to tell for now, but Samsung hasnt skimped on that side of things either – the device runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core processor. It also features the voice recognition features of Samsungs smartphones, adapted to work with the camera functions, and comes preloaded with some camera-relevant kit – Samsungs Photo Wizard editing software, and the ability to back photos up using the Allshare cloud service. 
According to Robert King, VP consumer electronics for Samsung UK and Ireland: “In this new era of visual communication the Samsung’s Galaxy Camera marks a breakthrough in convergence technology, combining the leading edge design of our Galaxy mobile products with high performance photographic capability.”
