Isis, the mobile payments joint venture between US operators AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile, finally has a launch date – and its less than a week away.
The mobile wallet is set to launch its pilot scheme on Monday 22 October, and Isis promises it will be compatible with up to 20 devices by the end of 2012.
Its not the first time a release date has been set – Isis was originally set to launch over the summer, with pilots in Salt Lake City and Austin, before a delay was announced in September – but such a close, concrete date seems unlikely to shift. The latter part of that plan, at least hasnt changed, and Isis will be deployed in those two cities first.
Its still unclear how long it will take for a wider roll-out to follow, but more details have been promised on the launch date.
