Italian Bank Reports Spike in Mobile Logins

Italian bank UniCredit has reported a 400 per cent growth in mobile logins in the last six months.

The companys native client apps for iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, and Nokia platforms, and its mobile-optimised website, have now amassed 6.3m logins since it launched a year ago.

The mobile offering, developed by Opentech ENG and Unicredits Global Information Services, lets customers check their account balance, make payments, manage credit, debit and prepaid cards, trade stocks and locate the nearest branch. It also features a one-time password generator to keep accounts safe, says the company.

Of the 6.3m logins, 5.9m were through native apps, while 400,000 were via the mobile web.

Liana Gentile, head of internet and mobile banking at UniCredit, says: “Since the launch of the application, weve experienced incredible customer satisfaction. In this year we have constantly enhanced our product adding new services and features in order to be always in line with our clients expectations.”

Stefano Andreani, Opentech ENG CEO, says: “Our goal was to optimise the user experience depending on the access device. Our solution includes native clients for popular platforms and a mobile site compatible with all internet-enabled phones, ensuring high quality and reliability on both smartphones and feature phones.”
