ITV Uses Havas AI in Election Night Coverage

Clinton v TrumpITV will be leveraging data from EagleAi, a Havas-created AI system, as part of the broadcasters through-the-night coverage of the US Presidential Election.

Built on IBM’s Watson technology, licensed to Havas, EagleAi is a data mining tool which will be used to analyse data from social media, online searches and press coverage. It will examine language, sentiment, imagery, personality, tone and confidence in these materials, stretching back to the Clinton and Trumps nominations in July.

The platform cant be branded with the Havas name due to Ofcom promotional guidelines, but the ad agencys executive digital director Lisa de Bonis will appear on the programme to talk through the findings.

“EagleAi works a lot like a human brain actually, but on a scale that our brains are not currently able to do,” said de Bonis. “It can spot connections and patterns just like us, just on a truly massive scale.”
