iZettle has released an application programming interface (API) to enable developers to integrate the social payment company’s transaction solution into their apps.
iZettle’s mini chip-card reader and app turn an iPhone or iPad into a credit card terminal, enabling small businesses and individual service providers to accept credit and debit card payments.
“A food delivery company or event organising platform may already be using iPhone or iPad apps to take orders or issue tickets but often they can only take card payments online and not at the point of delivery or event,” says iZetle CEO, Jacob de Geer. “iZettle’s API will streamline this type of sales process by allowing companies to integrate our payment solution with their procurement or company applications. Ultimately, our API makes it easier and faster for users to process sales.”
The company’s solution is EMV- (Europay, MasterCard and Visa) approved, and compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS).
With more than 50,000 users today, iZettle has increased the number of point of sale (POS) card acceptance terminals in the Nordics by 10 per cent since it began operation in Sweden in August 2011 and began expansion to Denmark, Finland and Norway earlier this year.
