Social widget company Janrain has launched a social login and sharing SDK (software development kit) for the Android platform.
Janrain allows developers to add social networking widgets to their sites and apps. The company released a similar SDK for the iOS platform in 2010, and now also offers support for developers of Android apps.
The company says that future releases will include options that let users share content via email and SMS. It adds that a tablet-optimised version of the SDK is in development.
Developers can try the SDK by setting up a free Janrain Engage Basic account. Current Janrain customers can use the functionality by visiting the Janrain Engage product dashboard, and singing up for a beta test.
