JD Sports Launches Mobile Site

Sportswear outlet JD Sports has become the latest UK high street retailer to launch a mobile-optimised website, in response to high volumes of mobile traffic hitting its website, writes Martin Conway. The site was created by Usablenet, which has also tailored mobile sites for Marks & Spencer, John Lewis and Debenhams.

Nick Taylor, Usablenet president, comments: “With UK web traffic from mobile phones growing eight times faster than traffic from PCs, it is clear that mobile represents a massive opportunity. By offering customers the ability to make on-the-go purchases through the mobile web, JD Sports is reinforcing its leadership in the retail space.”

As well as browsing the retailer’s complete inventory of stock and buying things, users can also use the site to locate their nearest JD Sports outlet, via GPS.
