KDDI America Releases Smartphone Security Suite

KDDI America has launched a smartphone security suite. The telecoms companys solution, called Junos Pulse Mobile Security Suite, offers consumer tools as well as centralised control features for enterprises.

Phones can be controlled via a cloud-based web service called Junos Pulse Mobile Security Gateway. The software offers real-time antivirus protection that automatically updates and scans files that are sent to the phone, including email, MMS, SMS, Bluetooth transmissions, infrared and direct downloads. It also offers remote wipe and lock features, GPS locate and tracking, and device backup and restore options.

The suite has an anti-spam blacklist filtering for voice and SMS communication, and monitoring features for viewing call logs, address boos, SMS, emails, photos, and browsing history.

Junos Pulse Mobile Security Suite supports Android, Apple iOS, BlackBerry, and Windows Mobile devices.

Users of KDDIs KDDI Mobile service will receive the security suite free until the end of 2011. New customers can get a free 30-day trial if they sign up in July.

“Heavy reliance on smart mobile devices in our daily lives to drive work productivity and ones own personal productivity has made mobile security a serious concern for enterprises and consumers,” says Sanjay Beri, vice president and general manager of the Junos Pulse Business Unit, Juniper Networks. “Juniper delivers a comprehensive secure mobility solution which ensures businesses and consumers are able to secure high value mobile services and applications, while protecting vital, sensitive data from risk.”
