Kineto Launches VoLGA Access Network Controller

Kineto Wireless, which supplies solutions that enable the delivery of mobile services over broadband, has unveiled an access gateway solution which supports the VoLGA (Voice over LTE via Generic Access) Forum's specification for extending voice and SMS services over LTE networks.
Kineto notes that its VoLGA access network controller is already installed and under test with one major mobile operator. VoLGA controllers connect to existing mobile switching centres (MSCs) through standard network interfaces, to enable delivery of the full range of basic telephony and intelligent network services that operators expect and subscribers demand.
Many operators are planning to begin LTE network trials in the coming months,” says Ken Kolderup, Vice President and General Manager of Kineto's infrastructure business unit. Our VoLGA solution enables these operators to add their existing voice and SMS services effortlessly to those trials.
Yesterday, Deutsch Telekom revealed that the first VoLGA call had been made between a test system, installed at Deutsche Telekom Headquarters in Bonn, Germany (based on a VoLGA implementation of Kineto Wireless) and a second, totally independent system from Alcatel-Lucent, installed in its test centre in Stuttgart, Germany.
Kineto has announced the availability of the industry's first combined VoLGA/IMS voice client for LTE handsets. According to Kineto, the client, which can be field upgraded, provides unmatched investment protection for operators, as well as device manufacturers developing LTE handsets.
