Voice messaging and social media app provider Kirusa has partnered with Goal.com to offer exclusive football updates to its users during the 2014 World Cup.
Kirusa, who has a strong focus on emerging markets, already offers its Sports Connect service to users, but with the new partnership it will now include daily football news in three new categories, with a focus on the Ghanaian and Nigerian football teams, as well as one for all African football teams.
The service will be available to mobile subscribers in the Congos, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Uganda and Togo, and includes voice messages enabling users to listen to the news at their convenience.
"Sports Connect is an ideal service for anyone who wants to stay updated with the action associated with Africa's soccer teams," said Barinderpal Mumick, vice president of operations at Kirusa. "From match alerts to live scores, players' quotes to post match analysis, a treat is in store for football fanatics."
Sub-Saharan Africa is an increasingly important market for mobile services, with mobile data usage predicted to double every year until the end of this decade, and mobile penetration closing in on the global average.
