Kwik Fit has fitted its entire 200-strong fleet of mobile repair vans with telemetrics devices, in an effort to improve customer service and operating efficiency.
Kwik Fit introduced mobile tracking technology to its vehicles 15 years ago, and is now upgrading the vehicles with the latest telemetrics technology, provided by intelligence platform Telogis, who is also providing a software platform that covers fleet management, telemetrics and mobile resource management.
Initially, the program will focus on reducing operating costs by monitoring metrics like fuel economy, vehicle idling and acceleration and braking patterns. Later this year, Kwik Fit will launch its Mobile Control Centre Application which will integrate with the technology and aid route optimisation and identify early opportunities for replacement work at short notice.
“The power and versatility of in-cab and handheld devices coupled with the ubiquity of fast internet connectivity means that organisations are now able to harness enterprise-grade solutions for managing their mobile resources for a fraction of the overhead previously required,” said Sergio Barata, general manager for EMEA at Telogis.
“For forward-thinking companies like Kwik Fit, adopting a single platform for all their connected vehicle services and layering in their own proprietary customer specific data makes perfect business sense in helping them to provide an excellent service to customers, while optimising resources and managing costs.”
