UK gambling operator Ladbrokes has identified mobile as “the engine of growth” in its H1 2014 results.
The amount staked on sportsbook betting via mobile grew 105 per cent year-on-year, and made up 46 per cent of digital. During the World Cup this spiked to 63 per cent, as mobile stakings grew over 1,100 per cent.
This pushed a 1.6 per cent increase in revenues for the group overall, to £577.8m – though profits fell 33.7 per cent to £56.8m.
In the financial release, Ladbrokes identified its mobile products as “the greatest growth opportunity,” adding: “The Desktop product remains important but is now complementary to mobile rather than the lead driver of growth.”
