Mobile telecoms operator Lebara is expanding its mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) service to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, after it received one of only two licences granted by the countrys industry regulator earlier this year.
Lebara Mobile KSA is supported by an alliance of major Saudi investors, and will be delivered using the expertise Lebara has developed in building partnerships with established MNOs and sales channels, as well as successfully marketing affordable pay-as-you-go mobile services to migrant communities in Europe.
The virtual network will be hosted by the Mobily network, and pre-paid SIM cards and recharge vouchers will be made available through Saudi Post and other retailers across the country.
“We place significant importance on our alliance with Lebara,” said HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Chairman of Lebara Mobile KSA. “Such an alliance will play a significant role in bringing differentiated mobile services not only to the Kingdom but to the region.”
“We are thrilled to be working with our Saudi partners and were looking forward to building more partnerships in the Gulf region,” said Yoganathan Ratheesan, chairman and CEO of Lebara Group. “Offering high quality and low cost mobile products to migrant communities is the driving force of our business.
“With todays launch well be able to offer this service to the millions of expats lving and working in Saudi Arabia, helping them stay connected to their friends and family at home.”
