Chinese electronics company Lenovo is rumoured to be considering an acquisiton of BlackBerry manufacturer RIM, following a comments by Lenovo CFO Wong Wai Ming during a Bloomberg interview.
“We are looking at all opportunities – RIM and many others,” said Ming. “We’ll have no hesitation if the right opportunity comes along that could benefit us and shareholders.”
Even if something does come of this, however, it could of course manifest in a number of ways, but it comes after RIM CEO Thorsten Heins told German newspaper Die Welt that the company was considering a number of options going forward – including selling its hardware business, and licensing out its OS to other manufacturers.
Its not the first time these kinds of rumours have emerged – IBM, Amazon, and Samsung have all been tipped as potential buyers of RIM in the past.
