LinkedIn has launched a feature to help its users develop their careers by giving them a way to gain mentorship from other users.

The ‘Career Advice’ feature connects LinkedIn’s 530m professionals with one another to offer lightweight mentoring on the best way to approach a new project, advice on starting a business, and any other work-related issues users may face.

LinkedIn users can find the Career Advice hub within the dashboard section of their profile. Here, users can enter the type of advice they’re looking to give or receive, and LinkedIn will recommend members based on that, mutual interests, and what the platform knows about the user professionally. Once a match is found, messages can be sent between the two parties about the advice required.

LinkedIn also says it is looking at ways to give its users ways to specify if they’d like to mentor certain communities.

The Career Advice feature is being rolled out to LinkedIn users in the US, the UK, India and Australia, and will be expanded out to more countries around the world ‘in the coming months’.
