Lionsgate and Qualcomm Bring Power Rangers VR Experience

Power RangersEntertainment and media giant Lionsgate has teamed up with Qualcomm, a mobile technology company, to create a VR Powers Rangers experience for the 2017 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. It will be produced by VR and animation studio Reel FX.

The VR experience, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processer, is based on the Power Rangers feature film scheduled for worldwide release on 24 March 2017. The experience will enable audiences to enter the zords – the colossal mechanical or bio-mechanical robots Rangers use to battle – of their favourite Power Ranger, embodying their powers and capabilities.

“We’re happy to be working with Lionsgate to create an exciting virtual reality experience for Power Rangers fans through the technologies we’ve implemented on Snapdragon 835,” said Mike Finley, senior vice president and president, North America and Australia, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.

Paula Kupfer, senior vice president, global partnerships and promotions, Lionsgate added: “We’re delighted to team with Qualcomm Technologies on a virtual reality experience that will bring fans closer to the action of Saban’s Power Rangers as they prepare for the film to arrive on the big screen.”

The Power Rangers VR experience is set to be unveiled at Qualcomm Technologies CES booth #10948 at the Las Vegas Convention Center between 5 January and 8 January 2017.
