Logica Hits IP Century

LogicaCMG has been selected by Sun Cellular, the mobile brand of Digitel Mobile Philippines Inc. (DMPI) in the Philippines, to upgrade its messaging architecture to IP. The contract, is LogicaCMGs 100th IP messaging migration commission.
Sun Cellulars upgrade to an all-IP next generation messaging architecture will enable the operator to introduce new advanced and personalised SMS messaging services to its fast-growing customer base rapidly and cost-effectively.
“We have chosen LogicaCMG because of their proven track record in delivering robust solutions, coupled with their knowledge of our business and the industry,” says. Charles A. Lim, Chief Executive Officer, Sun Cellular Philippines. “This step enables us to meet the evolving needs of our existing and potential subscribers, delivering unique and value-added messaging services.”
Boudewijn Pesch, Managing Director, LogicaCMG telecoms in Asia adds:
“IP is the next frontier for traffic-heavy messaging. The new IP based messaging systems will enable a host of value-added services which will allow operators such as Sun Cellular to differentiate their offering from the competition and gain mindshare and loyalty for the brand. With advanced data services like email and IM over IP set to be widely introduced over the next few years, messaging is likely to remain the favourite communications tool among users, although the explosion of services could well mean that simple text is no longer the main focus.”
LogicaCMGs next generation messaging architecture streamlines the introduction of value added service applications, and provides operators with a complete customer view, consolidated across mobile data services. It offers a scaleable platform that allows the roll-out of high-quality, revenue generating IP-based services. Operators can improve their time-to-market with new premium messaging services as well as improve the quality of service offered to their subscribers. The IP based architecture offers a simple migration path to services such as video and unified messaging, protecting existing infrastructure investments.
